Success = Being Happy

What exactly is success? I’ve been pondering about the meaning of success for a long time. I believe, to most people, success means flying high in their career making heaps of money, living in big houses, driving some exotic cars and enjoying the finer things in life.

Even Macquarie Concise Dictionary defines it as “the gaining of wealth, position, or the like.”

Well, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. That’s what I hope to eventually achieve too.

But there may be people who think otherwise. That’s perfectly fine as well.

I know of people who don’t dream big. They are contented with what they already have and are just happy with the way things are going.

There are also people who define success as being able to make a difference in other people’s lives or change the world into a better place to live.

They do not care much even if they are not making loads of money doing what they do. All they care is to contribute selflessly as much as they possibly could. If they can make a difference, they consider themselves successful.

So what is success? After all the observations, I’ve come to define success as Being Happy. Being happy with what you already have and what you are already doing.

I think, ultimately, happiness is what we are seeking in life.

However, I’m not saying that you should just be happy and stop moving forward. In fact, you should keep moving forward because everybody else is. So if you remain stagnant, you’ll just become obsolete in no time.

What I’m saying is that, while you are in the process of accomplishing more in life, at the same time, you should simply enjoy the process.

I can’t really advise you on how you can be happy because I’m not an expert in this field, but there’s always a way to find out. Read Andrew Matthews’ book, Being Happy. It is a book understanding yourself; being able to laugh at yourself; becoming more prosperous; and being able to forgive yourself.

It also discusses understanding nature’s laws so we can better deal with our own natures. It is a book about being happy.

Nevertheless, one of the ways I know about being happy is, “Do What You Love Doing”. Personally, I think that’s the most important.

You may be one of the many people out there who is stuck with a JOB that you hate, earning paycheque to paycheque every month just to pay off your bills and debt, leaving yourself with little or no money.

Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to be doing something you love doing and make a living out of it?

If you think it’s not possible, that’s because you’ve not been exploring. If you are not exploring, that’s because you don’t believe. And if you don’t believe, God bless you.

I can tell you, every great accomplishment starts with a belief.

So, can everyone be happy? Sadly, the answer is no.

There are still millions of people living in poverty in different parts of the world. They have nothing. All they’ve got is a corrupt government and a plethora of diseases.

So how can they be happy? Unfortunately, they can’t. But can they do anything to change their destiny? Well… perhaps. I don’t know.

What I do know is, the fact that you are able to read this article online right now means that you have the capacity to be happy because you are living in a world where there are abundant resources within your reach to help yourself to be happy.

In other words, you CAN be successful.

Now go explore!

Cheers~
